My friend’s call me Robi - or even 'Bosko' occasionally (long story). I grew up in the large metropolis known as Windsor, Ontario – I hope you can sense my cynicism. I am blessed to have two loving parents, one fantastic sibling (my sister) and a loving girlfriend - all of whom I admire. I am passionate about many things and driven to succeed (sometimes even a little too much). I never take anything for granted and I am beginning to realize more often than not, that each day should be cherished. It may sound like an overused cliché, but in reality, it is so very true. I am a morning person. When I wake up I smile because I know there are 24 brand new hours before me. Am I overly optimistic? I don’t think so. I just know that I have always appreciated simplicity, and it has allowed me to put my life in perspective and find out what is really important to me.
I love sports. It has helped me realize that it is always better to discover what one cannot do, than what one can do. I have always been more of a summer person, mainly because my skiing and skating skills are pretty close to terrible (not to mention the -40 temperature). Also, golf is probably the best and worst way for me to relieve stress – depending on how well I played that day. I love everything to do with technology, business and open forum discussions. I also love reading. Just for kicks I subscribe to Business 2.0, the Economist, Wired and yes, even Vanity Fair (which by the way is a great magazine). It definitely is a luxury to have both the time and opportunity to read for pleasure. When I feel under-informed with a particular topic, I will put my full attention towards learning it. Literature has not only molded my way of thinking, but it has provided me with insight into the minds of many brilliant individuals.
A few more tidbits about me: I'm passionate about human collaboration for social betterment ... open source supporter/developer … instinctually creative marketer… certified professional engineer … future New York times best selling author… coffee aficionado currently enjoying grande wet cappuccino’s with cinnamon sprinkles at shmucks… bench pressed well over 300ilbs … fantasy sports stats guru … 81 percent lifetime three point shooter … exceedingly hard on myself to reach for more and you will never ever (EVER) see me quit …
So that’s it for now. I’ve skimmed the surface and I hope this gives you a little better understanding of who I am on a personal level and some of the passions that drive me. With that, I will leave you with what is arguably the best personal denotation of passion by Joss Whedon: “Passion, it lies in all of us, sleeping... waiting... and though unwanted... unbidden... it will stir... open its jaws and howl. It speaks to us... guides us... passion rules us all, and we obey. What other choice do we have? Passion is the source of our finest moments. The joy of love... the clarity of hatred... and the ecstasy of grief. It hurts sometimes more than we can bear. If we could live without passion maybe we'd know some kind of peace... but we would be hollow... Empty rooms shuttered and dank. Without passion we'd be truly dead.”
